What do School Counselors Do?
As the school counselor at MES, I support the academic, college & career, and social/emotional success of EVERY student. Aligned with the American School Counselor Association's National Model, I deliver classroom instruction, small group instruction, and individual appraisal, advisement and counseling.
School Counselor Domains
Classroom Counseling Instruction
The Morningside Elementary school counseling program provides ALL students with school counseling services through classroom instruction. The goal for the 2022-23 school year is for each class to receive 8 lessons by the end of the school year.
The American School Counselor Association defines an advisory council as a "representative group of stakeholders selected to review and advise on the implementation of the school counseling program. It is explicitly focused on the school counseling program and gives a voice to stakeholders through dialouge and critique. The council meets at least twice a year and maintains an agenda and minutes for each meeting." -ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs, 4th Edition.
